A twenty-nine year old woman moved to Roanoke with her three children ages 8, 5 and 2 to escape an abusive husband. After a brief stay at the Rescue Mission, she found an apartment and a job paying $10 per hour. She is currently seeking another part-time job to supplement the income and build a safety net. All was going well for her until her car broke down. She had to get it fixed in order to get to her job. The PCC paid rent for the month of March to keep her in her home and overcome the blow of having to use her income to pay for a car repair. Groceries from our pantry helped with food expenses.
